Windows PCs fail in normal everyday use, Macs fail in everything and Linux PCs are far superior in every possible way - although more professional use does require some dedication if you've only been using the first 2 children's toys so far. Don't be afraid of Linux, it really isn't difficult to use any more in the 21st century and even "computer-stupid" people should be happy with it.
