Measurement units and dates: United States vs. The Rest of the World
25.11.2011 - 20:17:15 <anon> TAAS!
25.11.2011 - 20:18:16 <anon> niinpä, otaniemestä ehkä olitkin ;)
25.11.2011 - 20:35:05 <anon> neekeri ollikkalasta
25.11.2011 - 22:04:18 <anon> not really - UK uses both - AAGHHH!! my argument is flawed....
25.11.2011 - 22:19:35 <anon> i dont see how pyramid is proper... months 1-12, small block. day 1-28/31, medium block. year 00-99, large block.... nah, im just fucking with you, but in my defence it's been this way since i was born and with as often as i write dates or measurements i would never get it right
25.11.2011 - 22:20:45 <anon> It's the English system fucktards. Ameribash with better examples.
26.11.2011 - 00:05:32 <anon> only logical way would be year - month - day
26.11.2011 - 01:13:22 <anon> day - month - year is obviously based on which one changes most frequently
26.11.2011 - 02:45:27 <anon> i am american and i approve
26.11.2011 - 07:14:52 <anon> why isn't a cubic meter a liter? shouldn't a liter of water weigh a gram? oh right, this is the "smart" system so it doesn't work that way.
26.11.2011 - 08:59:32 <anon> dumb at 07:14:52
26.11.2011 - 10:33:37 <anon> "why isn't a cubic meter a liter? shouldn't a liter of water weigh a gram? oh right, this is the "smart" system so it doesn't work that way" --> not sure if troll or retarded
27.11.2011 - 01:26:28 <anon> 26.11.2011 - 10:33:37 <anon> "why isn't a cubic meter a liter? shouldn't a liter of water weigh a gram? oh right, this is the "smart" system so it doesn't work that way" --> not sure if troll or retarded --<JUST AMERICAN
27.11.2011 - 14:40:30 <anon> 26.11.2011 - 07:14:52 <anon> why isn't a cubic meter a liter? shouldn't a liter of water weigh a gram? oh right, this is the "smart" system so it doesn't work that way. <-- Nice troll, american friend.
29.11.2011 - 00:13:35 <anon> I don't see why you children are so hung up on this stuff. The pyramid is funny though, that may be the dumbest thing I've seen.
29.11.2011 - 17:28:40 <anon> It's the English system fucktards. Ameribash with better examples. – The United States, Myanmar and Liberia are the only three countries on the planet still officially using it. Even the Brits are mostly metric these days.
26.01.2012 - 11:06:33 <anon> Actually, the metric system is official in the usa also. They just dont use it other than in classrooms
29.07.2012 - 19:30:45 <anon> pissaa ja kakkaa, kakkaa ja pissaa, pissaa ja kakka tralallallei
07.08.2012 - 01:27:57 <anon> why isn't a cubic meter a liter? shouldn't a liter of water weigh a gram? oh right, this is the "smart" system so it doesn't work that way. <-- 1 liter equals 1 cubic decimetre, or 1000 cubic centimetre, how hard is that?
11.09.2012 - 10:32:30 <anon> English system units are simple to imagine and easy to use. Metric system is nice for math but thats about it.
22.12.2012 - 09:20:20 <anon> "11.09.2012 - 10:32:30 <anon> English system units are simple to imagine and easy to use." <- Yes perhaps if you're a child and like pretty colours and dramatic bodily measurement units like feet, fingers and random excrements. Metric system has nothing to do with maths for most of the people using it. It's just so insanely fucking logical that it's obvious. ALL figure scopes work the same way, whether you're using binary, hex or whatever else.
22.12.2012 - 09:23:14 <anon> And seriously, that date thing. As an software engineer, I fucking HATE that shit. To guarantee compatibility and ease of support, almost all server systems I've ever used are in English for obvious reasons. So not only do you have to manually fucking change the culture settings to use a european date format, but some interfaces won't even let you. So you need to goddamn CODE it in the fucking software, using 30 times the space, time and trouble to present, format and then convert the data back
22.12.2012 - 09:24:04 <anon> ... from EN-US to FR / DE, etc and back again. And for what? Because some retard thought that it would be funny to place 1,2,3 in order 2,1,3 just for the fucking sake of it?
22.12.2012 - 09:26:21 <anon> right, but the yanks did something right, at least they don't display time in some random format like minute - hour - millisecond - second, evne if they have the retarded AM/PM system since apparently 24h is 12 too large for those illiterates
21.04.2013 - 23:26:38 <anon> do not forget water in the metric system
25.06.2013 - 20:13:57 <anon> oiled and wet
31.10.2013 - 05:26:27 <anon> I just want to know why you feel so compelled to compare yourself to America? Got issues??
02.09.2014 - 21:31:35 <anon> 29.11.2011 - 00:13:35 who are you? you are not anon!
19.01.2015 - 17:18:28 <anon> another interesting fact: metric system Tonne = 1000 kilograms, shitty US system Tonne = 907 kilograms
25.04.2015 - 11:40:31 <anon> 22.12.2012 - 09:23:14 <anon> And seriously, that date thing. As an software engineer, I fucking HATE that shit. To guarantee compatibility and ease of support, almost all server systems I've ever used are [blablabla] <- wait wait wait. The date in software engineering is another shit. Year - month - day and it is so because it is the only way to automatically sort it in alphabetical order older to newer. Other shit is the "locale", but there's already the way to set it.
17.12.2015 - 06:50:14 <anon> you forgot the nautical mile ... 2000 yards per mile, hence the knot.
11.02.2016 - 15:18:47 <anon> ^1 Nautical mile = 2025,37 yards...
03.03.2016 - 01:30:31 <anon> USA LOGIC 4HEAD
07.04.2016 - 22:18:19 <anon> ISIS - USA 1000000-0
20.10.2024 - 17:44:51 <anon> who codified liberty, who invented the cotton gin, the airplane, the automobile, etc?
