Also in backend/frontend servers. << Been there done that.You either have to have one person dedicated on maintaining them, which costs almost the same as with AWS + you have to replace them from time to time. But if you think that "one of the developers can maintain them on the side" you will most certainly end up with outdated systems with a lot of maintenance debt.
