It is the look of failure, mediocrity. The original spec was to have a ballistic computer aim the gun, like on an American M1 tank. But money ran out. So no ballistic computer, only pilot who don't understand ballistic trajectories.

Like an M1 Abrams tank.

The attack helicopter got stuck with chain gun but no electronic aiming. Linking chain gun aiming to helmet mounted sight is a gimmick to fool dummies into thinking electronic aiming is being used.
